Article 22. Means of identification of a vessel Chapter 5. Vessel of the Law On Inland Waterway Transport
1. A vessel subject to state registration in the State Ship Registry and the Register of Leased Foreign Vessels must have a name, a point of registry, a registration number, a call sign and, depending on the technical equipment of the vessel, the identification number of the ship's satellite communication station and the number of the ship's selective call.
A small vessel subject to state registration in the ship's register must carry a registration number on both sides in accordance with the Rules of State Registration of a vessel, including a Small vessel, and the rights to it.
2. The owner assigns and changes the name of the vessel.
It is not allowed to assign identical names to vessels operating in an enclosed basin, adjacent basins, and mixed river-sea swimming pools.
2-1. The owner shall immediately notify the mortgagees of the registered mortgages of the vessel of the change in the name of the vessel.
3.in accordance with the rules of state registration of a vessel, including a small vessel and rights to it, the authorized body shall assign the registration number of the vessel.
4. The call sign, the identification number of the ship's satellite communication station and the selective call number of the ship's station are assigned in accordance with the procedure established by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This Law regulates public relations that arise between government agencies, individuals and legal entities in the field of inland waterway transport during navigation, transportation of passengers, baggage and cargo, operation of small vessels, including on bodies of water not related to inland waterways and sea waters, and also defines their rights, duties and responsibilities..
