Article 155. Expenses caused by the delay of the vessel for the sake of the general safety of the Merchant Shipping Act
1. A general accident is the cost of paying wages and allowances to the ship's crew caused by the delay of the ship in any port or place due to an accident, or other extraordinary expenses for the sake of general safety or to repair damage caused by such an accident or other extraordinary circumstance, if such removal is necessary for the safe continuation of the voyage. The costs of fuel, supplies and port expenses incurred during such a delay are reimbursed in the order of distribution of the total accident, with the exception of the costs of repairing damage not related to the total accident.
2. The rules established by paragraph 1 of this article shall not apply to expenses caused by the delay of the vessel as a result of the repair of damage unrelated to any accident or other emergency that occurred during the voyage. Such expenses are not considered a general accident, even if the repair of damage is necessary for the safe continuation of the flight.
