On measures to optimize the administrative-territorial structure of the Republic of Kazakhstan

Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated April 22, 1997 N 3466

In accordance with Article 9 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On the Administrative-territorial Structure of the Republic of Kazakhstan", I decree: 1. To abolish:      

1) Taldykorgan region;      

2) Turgai region.       2. Change borders:      

1) Akmola region, including the territory of Derzhavinsky, Zhaksynsky, Zhanadalinsky, Yesilsky and Kiiminsky districts of the abolished Turgai region;      

2) Almaty region, including the territory of the abolished Taldykorgan region;      

3) the Kostanay region, including the territory of Arkalyk, Arkalyksky, Amantogaysky, Amangeldinsky, Dzhangeldinsky and Oktyabrsky districts of the abolished Turgay region.      

3. To form commissions to resolve issues related to the abolition of Taldykorgan and Turgai regions, in accordance with appendices No. 1-2.

    4. The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan shall take the necessary measures to implement this Decree.    

5. This Decree comes into force from the date of signing.
