Article 8. Membership in a political party of the Law on Political Parties

      1. A citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan who has reached the age of eighteen may be a member of a political party.  

      2. Membership of foreigners, stateless persons, as well as collective membership in a political party are not allowed.  

     3. The Chairman, Deputy Chairman, judges of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chairman and judges of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan and other courts, chairmen and members of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Supreme Audit Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan, employees and employees of special state, law enforcement agencies, military personnel should not be political political parties, to speak in support of any political party.

     The persons specified in the first part of this paragraph, with the exception of employees of special state and law enforcement agencies, military personnel, must leave political parties within ten days from the date of appointment, election, and enlistment.

     3-1. For the period of exercising his powers, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan should not be a member of a political party.

     If, at the time of taking the oath of office to the people, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan is a member of a political party, he must resign from the political party within ten days from the date of taking the oath.

      4. Membership in a political party is voluntary, individual and fixed.  

      5. Admission to a political party is based on a written application.  

      6. Membership in a political party may not be restricted on the grounds of professional, social, racial, ancestral, national or religious affiliation, as well as depending on gender and property status.  

      7. Members of a political party have the right to elect and be elected to the governing bodies of a political party, and to receive information about the activities of the political party and its governing bodies.  

     8. The grounds for termination of membership in a political party are death, quitting the party, expulsion from the party, joining another party, military service, and joining law enforcement and special government agencies.

     In case of admission to military service or admission to service in law enforcement and special state bodies, membership in a political party is automatically terminated.
