On renaming the city of Zhambyl, the center of the Zhambyl region

Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 8, 1997 No. 3315a

  Taking into account the petitions of local executive bodies and the wishes of the public of the Zhambyl region, based on the conclusion of the State Onomastic Commission under the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, I decree: Rename the city of Zhambyl - the center of the Zhambyl region to Taraz.
