On changing the name of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic

The Law of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic dated December 10, 1991 No. 1000-XII.

     Based on the desire of the multinational people of the republic to build a democratic, independent, peace-loving, rule-of-law state based on the principles of self-determination, inviolability of human rights and freedoms, political, economic and ideological diversity of society, the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR decides:  

     1. Rename the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic to the Republic of Kazakhstan.

      2. To make appropriate amendments to the Constitution (Basic Law) of the Kazakh SSR and the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Kazakh SSR, laws and other acts of state bodies of the Kazakh SSR.
