Declaring 2000 the Year of Cultural Support

Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 28, 1999 No. 316

In order to revive, preserve and develop the multinational culture of Kazakhstan, I hereby decree:      

1. Declare 2000 the Year of Cultural Support.      

2. The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan:      

1) to form a State Commission for the Year of Cultural Support by January 20, 2000.      To invite prominent figures of literature and art, heads of public associations, national cultural centers, creative unions, religious organizations to join the State Commission; to instruct the heads of central executive bodies, akims of regions, cities of Astana and Almaty to create similar commissions;      

2) to approve, by January 20, 2000, an action plan for the organization and holding of the Year of Cultural Support, covering the cardinal problems of the revival and development of all spheres of multinational culture.;      

3) finance events for the Year of Cultural Support in accordance with the procedure established by law;      

4) ensure wide promotion and media coverage of the events envisaged within the framework of the Year of Cultural Support;

    5) instruct the State Commission for the Year of Cultural Support to continue the work carried out during the Years of the national

reconciliation and memory of victims of political repression, national unity and national history, unity and continuity of generations.

    3. This Decree shall enter into force from the date of publication.
