The unified system of national security bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan consists of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan (hereinafter referred to as the National Security Committee), its departments, territorial and other national security bodies, special purpose units, educational institutions, research institutions and other subordinate organizations.

The National Security Committee, its departments, territorial and other national security bodies may establish other separate structural units outside their location that are not subject to registration with the authorized body.

Other separate structural units perform part of the functions of the national security agencies specified in the second part of this article.

This Law defines the status, powers and organization of activities of the national security bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
