1. Historical and cultural monuments of the city of Turkestan included in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List are subject to protection in accordance with the provisions of the Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage of 1972.

2. In order to implement international agreements on historical and cultural heritage sites of the city of Turkestan, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan coordinates the implementation of international agreements on historical and cultural heritage sites in the territory of the city of Turkestan, and also, within its competence, carries out international cooperation on the protection and use of historical and cultural heritage sites located in the territory of the city of Turkestan.

This Law regulates the legal basis of the special status of the city of Turkestan and is aimed at its preservation, study and promotion as a unique heritage.
