Article 5. Bodies making decisions on the formation, abolition of administrative-territorial units, establishment and modification of their borders, their naming and renaming of the Law on the Administrative-Territorial Structure of the Republic of Kazakhstan

      The President and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, local representative and executive bodies, within the limits of their powers, make decisions on the formation and abolition of administrative-territorial units, the establishment and modification of their borders, their names and renaming.  

     The central and local executive bodies, within the limits of their powers, decide on the assignment of names, renaming, clarifying and changing the transcription of their names and assigning proper names of persons to state legal entities and legal entities with state participation based on the conclusion of the Republican Onomastic Commission.
