The objectives of operational investigative activities are:

1) protection of life, health, rights, freedoms, legitimate interests of man and citizen, property from unlawful encroachments;

2) assistance in ensuring the security of society, the state and strengthening its economic potential and defense capability;

3) detection, prevention and suppression of crimes;

3-1) identification of persons who have committed a criminal offense, as well as items and documents relevant to the criminal case;

4) implementation of measures to search for persons hiding from the bodies of inquiry, investigation and court, evading criminal responsibility, serving sentences or probation control, missing citizens and other persons in cases provided for by law, as well as identification of unidentified corpses found;

5) ensuring the security of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and other protected persons;

6) ensuring the protection of the State Border of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

7) ensuring the protection of information constituting state secrets or other legally protected secrets;

8) assistance to organizations in protecting trade secrets;

9) maintaining the regime established by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in places of detention or deprivation of liberty;

10) ensuring the safety of suspects, accused persons, defendants, convicts, staff in places of detention or imprisonment and other persons;

11) ensuring the security of bodies engaged in operational investigative activities.

The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated September 15, 1994 No. 154-XIII.

This Law defines the content of operational investigative activities carried out on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan and establishes a system of legal guarantees of legality in its conduct.
