1. The tasks of the national security agencies are:

1) participation in the development and implementation of state policy in the field of ensuring the security of individuals, society and the state;

2) obtaining intelligence information in the interests of the Republic of Kazakhstan in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Foreign Intelligence";

3) implementation of counterintelligence activities;

3-1) coordination and implementation of activities aimed at countering technical intelligence in relation to information constituting state secrets;

4) identification, prevention and suppression of terrorism and other activities aimed at forcibly changing the constitutional order, violating the integrity and undermining the security of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

4-1) coordination of activities in the field of countering terrorism and extremism in the Republic of Kazakhstan;

5) identification, suppression, disclosure and investigation of criminal offenses attributed by law to the jurisdiction of national security agencies;

6) providing the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, government agencies, the Armed Forces, other troops and military formations of the Republic of Kazakhstan with government communications in peacetime and wartime;

7) organization of cryptographic work in authorized state bodies, military administration bodies, national security and internal affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

8) ensuring the protection and protection of the State Border of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

9) ensuring the physical protection of foreign institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

2. Other tasks may be assigned to national security agencies by this Law, other laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan and acts of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This Law defines the status, powers and organization of activities of the national security bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
