Article 18. Requirements in the field of soil protection from flooding, waterlogging, and secondary salinisation The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan On Soil Protection
1. Measures for soil protection from waterlogging shall be carried out during the construction of buildings, structures, and their complexes, reservoirs, ponds, canals, and the conduct of other activities where changes in the hydrological and (or) hydrogeological regimes of the territory are possible.
2. During the construction of buildings, structures, and their complexes, the drainage of drainage and groundwater shall be conducted, the creation of a stormwater (drainage) sewerage system or the accumulation of such waters for subsequent use, and other measures aimed at preventing flooding, waterlogging, and secondary soil salinisation shall be provided for.
3. When carrying out hydro-meliorative works, measures for the prevention of waterlogging and secondary soil salinisation shall be provided for.
4. For the purpose of soil protection from flooding, waterlogging, and secondary salinisation, systematic monitoring of the groundwater table depth and the nature of groundwater mineralisation, the condition of drainage systems, and the general condition of soil shall be conducted, and the water regime shall be complied with, including the possibility of constructing water-management and hydrotechnical structures.
5. Agrotechnical (cultural-technical) meliorative measures shall be provided for in the designs of meliorative systems.
