1. The conservation of the gene pool of the plant world is carried out by:

1) maintenance and restoration of plant species and populations in the places of their natural growth;

2) preservation of plant diversity outside the places of its natural growth.

2. The maintenance and restoration of plant species and their populations in places of natural growth is ensured by allocating areas where the gene pool of the species and its established natural varieties (forms) have been preserved, giving them the status of an object of the state nature reserve fund and specially protected natural territories in accordance with the procedure established by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

3. The preservation of plant diversity outside the places of its natural growth is ensured by artificially creating and maintaining plantings, living collections of valuable plant species and (or) their varieties (forms), as well as keeping in a controlled environment using various methods of preserving plants from populations, their vegetative parts, seeds (spores).

4. Information on conserved plant genetic resources is generated by the competent authorities and the national coordinating center for Access to Genetic resources and benefit sharing (hereinafter referred to as the national coordinating center).

Access to such information is provided through the national mediation mechanism in accordance with the rules for handling the flora gene pool.

The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 2, 2023 No. 183-VII SAM.

This Law regulates public relations and establishes the legal basis of state policy in the field of protection, restoration, and use of flora.
