Article 12. Application of special means of the Law on the State Security Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan
Employees and military personnel of the State Security Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan have the right to use special weapons in the following cases::
1) to repel attacks on protected persons;
2) to repel attacks on buildings, structures, premises, other objects and vehicles protected by the State Security Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as to liberate these objects and facilities in case of their capture;
3) to disarm persons who are illegally in possession of firearms or bladed weapons, ammunition, explosives, potent chemicals and toxic substances;
4) to repel attacks on employees, military personnel of the State Security Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan, their family members, or other persons involved in security measures by the State Security Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
5) to detain offenders, persons who resist or intentionally prevent employees, military personnel of the State Security Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan or law enforcement officers from carrying out their official duties;
6) for the release of hostages, suppression of mass riots, group actions encroaching on life, health, rights, freedoms, personal dignity and property of protected persons and objects;
7) to stop a vehicle whose driver has not complied with the requirement of an employee and (or) a serviceman of the State Security Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan to stop if it is impossible to prevent a real threat to protected persons by other means.;
8) to prevent violations of airspace by unmanned aircraft in the area of security measures or over the territory of protected facilities.
It is prohibited to use special means against a protected person, as well as against women with visible signs of pregnancy, persons with obvious signs of disability, and minors, except in cases where they commit an attack on protected persons that threatens their life and health, group attacks, or armed resistance.
