Article 29. Management of historical radioactive waste and nuclear heritage objects of the Law on Radioactive Waste Management
1. Owners and other legal owners of nuclear heritage sites, as well as land plots and other facilities within whose boundaries nuclear heritage sites have been identified, are obliged, within the limits of their rights and obligations, to take measures to ensure radiation safety, prevent unauthorized access to such facilities, provide the necessary information and provide access for conducting surveys, assessing the condition of, accounting, rehabilitation, liquidation and (or) conservation of such facilities.
2. Identification, accounting, assessment and liquidation of nuclear heritage sites are carried out taking into account the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
3. The rules for the management of historical radioactive waste, as well as for the identification, examination, assessment of the condition, accounting, rehabilitation, liquidation and (or) conservation of nuclear heritage sites are approved by the authorized body.
