Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated June 19, 1997 No. 130-I

Article 1

1. To establish that they retain their powers and are deputies:

1) Almaty regional maslikhat - deputies of Taldykorgan regional maslikhat;

2) Karaganda regional maslikhat - deputies of Zhezkazgan regional maslikhat;

3) East Kazakhstan regional maslikhat - deputies of Semipalatinsk regional maslikhat;

4) North Kazakhstan regional maslikhat - deputies of the Kokshetau regional maslikhat.

2. To establish that the deputies of the Turgai regional maslikhat retain their powers and are deputies:

1) Akmola regional maslikhat, if they are elected from Derzhavinsky, Zhaksynsky, Zhanadalinsky, Yesilsky and Kiiminsky districts of the abolished Turgai region;

2) The Kostanay regional maslikhat, if they are elected from the city of Arkalyk, Arkalyk, Amantogay, Amangeldy, Dzhangeldy and Oktyabrsky districts of the abolished Turgai region.

Article 2

1. In the event of the abolition of regions or their reorganization, deputies of regional, district (city) maslikhats retain their powers and are deputies of the maslikhat of the administrative-territorial unit to which the abolished administrative-territorial unit is attached.

2. In case of changes in the administrative-territorial structure of the region, deputies of district (city) maslikhats retain their powers and are deputies of the maslikhat.:

1) the district (city) to which the territory of the abolished district is attached;  

2) the district under whose jurisdiction this city is assigned, which has acquired the status of regional significance.  

3. In case of renaming of a region, district (city), deputies of maslikhats of the renamed region, district (city) are not re-elected and retain their powers as deputies of maslikhats of the renamed administrative-territorial units.  

Article 3  

1. This Law is valid until the expiration of the term of office of local representative bodies elected on March 7, 1994, as well as local representative bodies elected later, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan having the force of the Constitutional Law "On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan".
