Declaring 1999 the Year of Unity and Continuity of Generations

Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 30, 1998 No. 4187

Taking into account the opinion and suggestions of the public, in order to develop the interrelationship of generations and strengthen the unity of the Kazakh people

I DECREE:      

1. To declare 1999 the Year of Unity and Continuity of Generations.    

2. The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan:      

1) to form a State Commission for the Year of Unity and Continuity of Generations by January 15, 1999.      

Invite the heads of political parties, other public associations, national cultural centers, creative unions, and religious organizations to join the State Commission.;      

instruct the akims of the regions, Astana, Almaty, and the heads of central executive bodies to create similar commissions;      

2) to approve the action plan for the Year of Unity and Continuity of Generations by January 20, 1999;      

3) finance events for the Year of Unity and Continuity of Generations in accordance with the procedure established by law;      

4) ensure wide and timely coverage in the mass media of the implementation of the activities envisaged within the framework of the Year of Unity and Continuity of Generations;      

5) instruct the State Commission for the Year of Unity and Continuity of Generations to continue the work carried out during the Years of National Accord and Commemoration of Victims of Political Repression, national unity and national history.      

3. This Decree shall enter into force from the date of publication.
